Owning A Chevrolet In Chicago What To Do When All You Can Think About Is Chevy This, Chevy That

Remember back when you were a kid, and you always got those Hot Wheels or Tonka cars and trucks for special occasions? Up until around junior high school, I considered that to be my favorite thing to do: collect cars that I hoped to own someday. The cars that always stuck out though, were the old-school Camaros. Something about them just gave me that adrenaline rush, and made me vision the feel of cruising with the top down. For as long as I remember, and even longer I presume, Chevy and Ford has always had some sort of competition thing going on. However, there was always something about the Camaro that seemed to push my imagination.

When Chevy decided to stop the production of the Chevy Camaro, it was a sad day for many muscle car hobbyists. Even guys who loved the Mustang and Firebird were probably saddened because a great timeless rivalry seemed to be fading away. However, with all the buzz surrounding the Camaro comeback, it somehow seems like maybe it was worth the wait. Worth the torture.

I’m sure you probably have seen the guys who hang around at the car shows, and loiter in the parking lots of shopping centers showing off their engines, interior, and new gadgets. It’s a great deal of fun. These guys invest a great deal of time and money into their hobbies. When you talk engines, body work, and collector’s value, this is no cheap hobby. I think it’s safe to say that it can sometimes seem to be as strong as a cult following. Chevy lovers definately travel in packs.

So what do you do when all you can think about is Chevy this, Chevy that? Well, a car club is a great idea for starters. This way you can keep in contact with people who have the same passion as you. Get tips, advice, and give others feedback on your experiences sort of like a fraternity without the college.

Because this has gone on for so long, and will probably go on for much longer than I care to envision, there is always a refuge you can find when it comes to Chevrolet muscle cars. If you can’t find local car clubs, you can always search online, ask around, or when worst comes to worst go to your local shopping center, pop your hood, and watch the onlookers begin to magically appear! Chevy muscle cars: there’s nothing like em’.

Cheap Auto Parts Cheap Car Parts Discount Parts Used Parts How Can I Know What I’m Getting?

Cheap auto parts? How cheap is too cheap? Don’t waste your money on poor quality parts I’ve learned from experience. Sometimes they might get you by for awhile, but why spend a few dollars less for something that might last only a month or a year and leave you stranded somewhere? Then you get to buy it again now you’ve paid twice as much for something that lasted much less than a quality part.

What should you look for? Quality that is affordable, from a reputable supplier with a good reputation, and a good guarantee.

Should you buy new, used, or rebuilt? Should you buy locally or online? The same rules still apply. Common parts like starters, alternators, and water pumps, can be rebuilt and last a long time for less money than new ones. Sometimes junkyard parts come with a guarantee and a low price that makes them worthwhile, as long as you realize they were “used” by somebody, and are already partly worn-out. You get what you pay for — sometimes — and sometimes not. What’s the suppliers reputation? What’s the guarantee? Will they give it to you in writing, with a receipt?

When I was a teenager I used to dream of someday having my own car. I found an old copy of a popular automotive catalog with little black & white pictures, and wore it out looking at all the cool parts I would buy someday. Well, a few years later, my dream came true. I found a 1959 MG, black with red leather interior and wire wheels very good condition, for only $600! I borrowed some money from my dad, and drove it home.

Still had the old catalog, and ordered a couple things to “fix her up”. Good quality at a price I could afford. Then once, I got a part that was supposed to fit all cars , and they quickly refunded my money. Now even today, I still trust them for supplying quality parts at reasonable prices. I still order from them for my ‘Vette, my truck, and motorhome.

Today, there are thousands of companies selling millions of auto parts. Some expensive, some cheap, and some “good quality at reasonable prices”. I believe in supporting your local auto parts stores, and the same rules still apply. But sometimes, it’s fun to look at all the great online catalogs. If you choose to order online, you can’t inspect every part you order, and you can’t take it apart to see how it’s made. This is when you have to rely on the reputation of the supplier, their promise of good quality, and their “no-hassle” refund policy if you’re not satisfied for any reason.

So if you’re looking for a special part, or just want to look at pictures and dream, check out the suppliers at http://eaglesupply.biz/ You’ll see some of my favorites, including the one that will send your their catalogs with the the little black & white pictures. Have fun!
